What do we do, when the nights are long, and sleep doesn’t come? What do we occupy ourselves with? Which tools and skills does the individual have to get through insomniac nights?
Tscherner wants to capture these questions with her camera. Just a small source of light (a smartphone) is her tool of choice to uncover what tends to be in the dark for too long, and to make it available for the observer.
Insomnia is often connected to isolation, and still there are issues that are off-limits in our positivist society. This photo series aims to liberate hidden sorrows, from which many people suffer, and to bring them out of the dark into the daylight.
